Having impressed with his pace on the McAMS Yamaha yesterday, the Australian was once again in fine form as he turned in a last gasp lap of 53.802secs, beating his own Friday benchmark.
He was joined in the 53s by fellow Australian Josh Brookes, the series veteran continuing to show well on the new Be Wiser Ducati V4, while Tarran Mackenzie consolidated McAMS Yamaha’s efforts in third position a mere tenth adrift of his session-topping R1 counterpart.
Despite a slip at Becketts in the closing stages, Claudio Corti was an impressive fourth quickest on the Team WD-40 Kawasaki, the Italian just ahead of his fellow former MotoGP rival Scott Redding aboard the second of the Be Wiser machines.
Danny Buchan made good gains for FS-3 Kawasaki in sixth position, ahead of Christian Iddon on the Tyco BMW, Ben Currie on the Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki and top Honda Racing rider Andrew Irwin. OMG Racing’s Josh Elliot was tenth fastest as the best of the Suzuki contingent.
With less than a second covering the top 20 riders, the fight to get into the leading grid positions this afternoon is likely to be fierce amongst the 32-strong contingent. Qualifying at the Northamptonshire circuit kicks off at 16.00GMT.
