Powerslide Motorcycles with Catfoss Suzuki join 2021 BSB grid with Bjorn Estment
The first Suzuki entry has been confirmed to the 2021 British Superbike Championship grid with the news Powerslide Motorcycles with Catfoss will join the ranks with Bjorn Estment.
Operating as a dealership located in Stoke-on-Trent day-to-day, Powerslide Motorcycles has branched out into racing with backing to the official Hawk Racing Suzuki squad, as well as former manufacturer partners OMG Racing.
Having seen its 2020 plans to run James Ellison on the North West 200 scuppered by COVID-19, the Powerslide Motorcycles with Catfoss Suzuki team instead focuses on BSB for 2021 with Estment on riding duties, while Team Owner Brad Clarke will also compete in the Superstock 1000 class.
“I literally can’t wait to get going in 2021. After a solid debut at Brands Hatch with Bjorn, I can see the potential in him, our team and the Suzuki GSXR and firmly believe with a good testing program we can definitely score points and be competitive.
“If Bjorn gets his confidence back he certainly has what it takes to become a nuisance in the top quality field. I personally look forward to racing in the Superstock 1000 class as it gives me the opportunity to further promote our Powerslide brand.
Having made his full-time BSB debut in 2020 with the NP Motorcycles BMW team, Estment is excited to get a proper shot on the Suzuki GSX-R1000R after brief outing in the final race of the season.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity with the Powerslide Motorcycles with Catfoss team heading in the 2021 season. It’s so nice to have things sorted early and be able to head home and begin the preparations and focus on making the 2021 season special.
“Brad, Dale and all the guys and girls involved in this project are full of so much enthusiasm and are ready to provide us with exactly what is needed to compete and race in the Bennetts BSB Championship. I believe in the package I have and am determined to get on the scoreboard and get stuck in amongst the guys.
“Also with a little luck we will see the return of the fans trackside which will only increase the motivation and enjoyment of racing in this prestigious championship. Massive shout out to Catfoss, OMG and Hawk for their crucial support as well as all my personal sponsors.”
