Hickman disappointed with unlucky Knockhill weekend, ‘we deserved better'
Peter Hickman takes the positive from a Bennetts British Superbike weekend that could have been so much better.
The FHO Racing BMW rider had podium pace - just like Oulton Park, but was particularly unlucky throughout the three races.
In race one, Hickman was set for a top five finish before a technical issue with just two corners left brought his race to a finish.
During race two Hickman was running in the front group - second place to be exact, before contact with eventual race winner Danny Buchan pushed the Isle of Man TT specialist down to sixth.
Hickman came across the line to finish seventh, while race three saw him claim eighth after running through the grass at turn one.
"It was a disappointing weekend really as we definitely showed that we had more than the results show. We had the pace for the podium, which was obviously good, but it just wasn’t meant to be at Knockhill and that is a big shame for the whole FHO Racing BMW team," added Hickman.
"Everything that could have gone against us went against us, but I feel that we deserved better, but this is how racing goes sometimes.
"We have to take the positives that we were fast and competitive from the start and if it had gone differently, we would have definitely been fighting for the podium again.
"We will regroup and come back stronger at Brands Hatch and I just want to thank everyone for all their support – it has been amazing."
