Iddon full of ‘momentum’; Brookes would ‘love’ for good record to continue
The opening two rounds of Bennetts British Superbike action could not have been more different for 2020 champion Josh Brookes and current series leader Christian Iddon.
The latter has been supremely consistent - four podiums from six and every race finished inside the top five, while Brookes has been in-and-out of the top ten through the opening two events.
Iddon took just his second ever win in BSB last time out at Knockhill - becoming the only current rider not named Danny Buchan to win at the Scottish venue.
Although momentum is squarely with the Ducati rider, Iddon is expecting several strong competitors to challenge for victory.
"The plan of course is to carry the momentum we have created at the opening two rounds into this weekend and to add to our winning tally," said Iddon.
"Our set up has proved it works at two very different tracks so I’m hopeful that won’t be any different at Brands Hatch.
"Certain competitors are very strong there, including my teammate Josh, so I’ve no doubt he and a few others will be fighting at the sharp end. I’m hoping to continue the good start to the season and just keep focusing on the job in hand."
One of those who could well be challenging for podium places is the above-mentioned Brookes.
The Australian possesses a brilliant track record at Brands, however, it would mean a pretty substantial rise in performance if the 38 year-old is to get on par with his team-mate.
"I look forward to every round and Brands Hatch and this year is no different. Obviously, I have a great record at the track, and I’d love for that to continue," added Brookes.
"But things haven’t worked out as I’d have liked so far this season, so I’ve discussed it at length with the team and we know we need to turn things around.
"We had a great setting last year so hopefully we can find what we need and put this poor start to the season behind us."
