Xavi Fores and FHO Racing BMW part ways for remainder of 2021
With just three rounds of the Bennetts British Superbike Showdown left to run, Xavi Fores and FHO Racing BMW have officially parted ways.
Fores, who has been competing in both BSB and the FIM World Endurance Championship for BMW, has together with FHO Racing decided to focus on his Endurance duties due to their congested schedules.
The former WorldSBK rider has also been dealing with several injuries throughout the 2021 season which has led to a total of 11 races missed in BSB - includes the opening two rounds.
Fores’ most recent injury setback came at last weekend’s 24h Bol D’or when a collision with another rider led to back and shoulder injuries, thus missing the race.
Speaking about his current situation and the split with FHO Racing, Fores said: "I would like to thank Faye Ho and the whole FHO Racing BMW Team for the opportunity to ride with them this season.
"It was a very nice experience and despite a bit of bad luck with some injuries earlier in the year, I always felt at home.
"Now, after my incident at the EWC race weekend, I need to recover and try to be fit for the season finale in Most in a couple of weeks’ time.
"I want to wish the FHO Racing BMW Team all the best and send them all my support for the Showdown and in the future."
Forez was 17th in the BSB championship before the announcement was made.
Current riders Peter Hickman and Brian McCormack will see out the rest of FHO Racing BMW’ debut BSB season, with Hickman part of the eight rider showdown.
