The Nottingham rider is full of confidence after powering to his second winning double of the campaign in the Holiday Monday third round at Snetterton where despite being out-started from his Superpole position by the determined Steve Hislop, he hit back in each 22 lap race, taking the victories by a split second.
It was fiercely competitive action throughout for the 21,800 crowd to enjoy at the Norfolk circuit - Hislop, riding the MonsterMob Ducati, was taken at one thirds distance in the opener, later explaining his game-plan: ''I had made a great start, but could not make the break, as I had to conserve my tyres - I decided to let John do the hard work, and then re-take him at the end.''
It was a close run thing, but Reynolds had worked out his rival's plan and was equal to it: ''He wanted me to set the pace and then take me at the chicane, but I kept it tight and got the result.''
That race was decided by 0.140 seconds, the next was even closer. Hislop set the pace. Reynolds went ahead at half distance, then after dealing with a Hislop fight-back, took his fifth victory in six starts by 0.112 seconds.
It means that as the action switches to Cheshire, Reynolds leads the title chase 145-118 from Hislop with James Haydon, third aboard the Virgin Mobile Aiwa Yamaha in each of the races at Snetterton, third in the rankings on 89 points.
In the Privateers Cup, Shane Byrne made it a case of six of the best as he continued his domination with a third successive winning double aboard the Performance House Suzuki, with the Sittingbourne rider taking a pair of sixth placings overall, to embarrass a number of works riders, including Suzuki's John Crawford.
Matt Llewelyn took victory in the British Supersport class, ahead of a fearsome battle between Kirk McCarthy and Rob Frost who took second and third places respectively. Australian Paul Young topped the podium in the Superstock race, while Ben Wilson took the honours in the Junior British Superstock class, ahead of local-Norwich rider Matt Layt. Adrian Coates won the British 250cc Championship race with Casey Stoner taking his third consecutive victory in the 125cc class.
