Buchan’ dominant win makes him the third race winner of 2021 after Jason O’Halloran and Christian Iddon.
It was a great race two for Scottish riders Rory Skinner and Tarran Mackenzie, as Skinner claimed his maiden Superbike podium with second, while it was Mackenzie’s first of the season in third.
A huge moment in the championship battle came on lap 11 when O’Halloran crashed out at turn seven - meaning Iddon who finished fourth is the new leader.
Peter Hickman had a scare late on as he ran off track and through an advertising board at turn one before claiming seventh.
Bjorn Estment crashed on lap five at turn eight and was unable to continue. Danny Kent followed Estment in crashing out at turn eight five laps later - fourth DNF from five races.
Race One
Iddon’ run of second place finishes to begin the 2021 British Superbike campaign is over thanks to race one victory at Knockhill.
Iddon held off a late double charge by championship leader O’Halloran and BMW’s Buchan.
All three riders shared time as the race leader, however, a near crash for Buchan on lap six when momentarily losing the front at turn 8, saw the 28 year-old slip down to fourth.
Iddon regained the lead for the second time after having passed O’Halloran three laps prior, a position he converted into victory unlike all three races at Oulton Park.
Bradley Ray and Skinner both came across the line for their best finishes of the season - fourth and fifth respectively.
