Egg Sport has already contracted leading touring car driver Matt Neal as one of its two drivers. Neal's impressive history includes several wins at the BTCC over the last few years and he is hoping to drive Egg Sport into the number one spot.
This year's BTCC commences with the first race of the season on 1 April at Brands Hatch, and will feature the two Egg branded Vauxhall Astra Coupes competing for the championship. The sponsorship will run until the end of the 2002 BTCC season in September.
On announcing the sponsorship, Nick Cross, Egg's Chief Marketing Officer, said: "Following the overwhelming success of Egg Sport at last year's BTCC, it was a logical progression for us to continue sponsoring the team. The BTCC is well aligned with the Egg brand. It is dynamic, exciting and high-tech yet easily accessible. The sponsorship worked fantastically for us last year and we are hoping to maintain the success second time round! BTCC really brings the Egg brand to life and we're thrilled to be involved again this year."
Franck Marie - Commercial & Marketing Director, at Triple Eight Race Engineering - added: "We are delighted to further our partnership with Egg for 2002 especially in light of the fantastic results that we achieved during our first season together."
"Everyone at 888 is really looking forward to many more successes both on and off the track, and the signing of Matt to head the Egg Sport Team certainly shows our commitment to being one of the BTCC leading teams again."
