TOCA have announced a deal which will see Dunlop become the sole supplier pf tyres for the British Touring Car Championship. The four-year deal sees Dunlop Tyres Ltd. replace BF Goodrich as tyre supplier to the UK's premier saloon championship.
Dunlop's return to the category where it enjoyed much success in the Super Touring era, is a particularly welcome one for Dunlop Motorsport's Product Manager for Race and Rally, Tony Gilhome:
"We are delighted to have gained the tyre supply of such a prestigious championship as the BTCC - it's a real feather in our cap. Dunlop is totally committed to providing the fullest technical and service back up to the series and we are all looking forward to being back in the UK's premier motorsport championship. The BTCC adds to our extensive current European Touring Car involvement, which includes the DTM, DTC and the STCC."
"I would like to thank BF Goodrich Tires for all their support over the past two seasons - they have played an important part in the successful rebuilding of the British Touring Car Championship," said TOCA series director Richard West. "I'm very much looking forward to working with Dunlop during the next exciting chapter of the BTCC."
In another announcement today, it was confirmed that the 2003 BTCC - with all runners now on Dunlop rubber - would start at Mondello Park, Eire, on April 21.
