Having raced in the Production Class earlier in his career, Mat Jackson made his debut proper in the BTCC in 2007 having used the money he secured for winning the SEAT Cupra Championship to purchase Andy Priaulx’s WTCC title winning BMW.

After a solid debut season, he followed the same route for 2008 and was rewarded with second place in the drivers’ standings securing the position with a double win on Finals Day to edge ahead of Jason Plato.
