"Setting fast lap times was not our main aim," insisted Opel motorsport manager Volker Strycek, "The test was the last major session before the opening round of the season at Hockenheim on 18 April, and we mainly concentrated on the set-up of the cars. I have said it several times already, and I say it again, only at Hockenheim, we will know where we really are in the strong DTM field."

The Stern-liveried car was driven by Frentzen on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning, with Manuel Reuter behind the wheel of the red car on Saturday afternoon and Sunday. The Vectra carrying the colours of Woman magazine was driven by Reuter on Thursday and by Timo Scheider on the three following days, while the black Playboy example saw action in the hands of Marcel F?ssler on Thursday, Aiello on Friday and Saturday and Peter Dumbreck on Sunday. The GMAC-Bank car was driven by Dumbreck on Saturday and F?ssler on Sunday.
