Ballast weight changes limited to 20kg maximum.
After consulting with the three manufacturers involved in the series, DTM organisers have agreed to limit its ballast weights to a maximum of plus or minus 20 kilogrammes.
The manufacturers confirmed that they regard this decision as a further step towards increasing the competitiveness of the field, with the ultimate goal of providing the crowds with closer and more exciting races, whilst preventing an ongoing technology battle between Mercedes, Opel and Audi.

Based on the latest agreement, all 2005-spec cars of a marque that wins a race will have to contest the following event with an additional weight of ten kilogrammes on board. In the - rather improbable - case of a second win in the following round, another ten kilogrammes will be added, taking the cars up to the maximum allowance of 20kg. Accordingly, the weight of cars of the make that finishes no better than third in a round will be reduced up to a maximum of 20kg.
