The 39-year-old was discharged from Mannheim University Clinic yesterday evening following a series of detailed examinations. Except for bruising, the doctors diagnosed no further injuries, and have instructed the seven-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner simply to rest thoroughly over the next few days.
"I'm delighted that I'm finally back home with my family and our baby boy Oswald," remarked the Dane, who became a father again only the weekend before last. "It's always time to leave when you start to enjoy hospital food!
"I'd like to thank the doctors at the circuit and in the hospital for their professional care and attention. I felt extremely well looked after. I'll take the opportunity to relax before preparing myself better than ever for the next race weekend."
Kristensen's Audi A4 DTM, meanwhile, will be completely rebuilt in the meantime and ready for action in the upcoming round at Oschersleben on 6 May. Team-mate Alexandre Pr?mat, who was also involved in the accident, has been instructed to remain in hospital for a few more days for observation.
