The 18-year-old stormed to the 2017 Formula Renault 2.0 title with seven wins and nine poles to boot. Sacha Fenestraz’s success led to a late-season European F3 debut with Carlin at the Nurburgring, where he scored a point on his debut weekend in the category before later finishing seventh in November’s Macau Grand Prix.
After impressing Carlin during his one-off outing in European F3 - and during winter testing - Fenestraz was signed up by the British squad to contest a full season in 2018, in which he has set the bold target of becoming rookie champion.
As reward for winning the Renault Eurocup title, Fenestraz was promoted into the manufacturer’s Renault Sport Academy for 2018. Will he prove to be the next French star to follow in the footsteps of Romain Grosjean, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly in reaching F1?
