2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix - Race - As it happened

Hamilton gets by Perez into Turn 1 now to move into seventh. 

A battle is brewing between Perez and Hamilton. The Red Bull driver has still yet to pit but he's defending from the seven-time world champion.

Verstappen, Norris, Leclerc, Piastri, Sainz, Russell, Perez, Hamilton, Stroll and Magnussen.

Russell is the latest to breeze past Perez into Turn 1. The Mexican has yet to pit. 

Sainz breezes past Perez into Turn 1 for fifth. 

Verstappen has a 6.1s lead over Norris, while Leclerc, Piastri, Perez, Sainz, Russell, Stroll, Hamilton and Magnussen complete the top 10.

We've yet to see a replay but it looks like Hamilton has had a spin.

Regardless, Sainz and Hamilton come into the pit lane to make their only stop of the day.

Leclerc comes into the pit lane as he looks to cover off Piastri.

A 1m20.468s for Norris as he sets the fastest lap of the race.

Verstappen is in for fresh tyres now as the two Ferraris stay out on track.

Piastri is the next driver to come intp the pit lane. A tidy 2.2s stop for the McLaren driver. He rejoins in eighth as he looks to undercut Sainz.

He's the first of the frontrunners to come into the pit lane. Hard tyres for the McLaren as he rejoins in seventh behind Perez.

"My front left tyre is not good," Verstappen reports as he extends his lead over Norris. 

Not much change at the front with Verstappen's lead now 6.096s over Norris. Leclerc is running 1.7s behind the lead McLaren driver.

Verstappen, Norris, Leclerc, Sainz, Piastri, Russell, Hamilton, Perez, Stroll and Ocon.

His mistakes costs him over five seconds, leaving him vulnerable to Stroll.

Albon and Williams under investigation for an unsafe release. 

Verstappen's lead over Norris now sits at 5.0s. Leclerc is now just 1.2s behind the Ferrari driver.

Tsunoda undercuts Hulkenberg after coming into the pit lane a lap earlier than the Haas driver. 

Some activity in the midfield as Ricciardo comes in for a new set of hards. This was in response to Gasly, Bottas and Alonso.

Tsunoda is now in as well. 

Verstappen continues to pull away at the front of the field - his gap is now 2.8s.

Albon is running very slow after his pit stop. He should be able to make it back to the pit lane.

Piastri is running right behind Sainz in the battle for fourth.
