2024 F1 British Grand Prix - Friday Practice - As it happened

Making the most of the softs, Piastri storms to the top now with a 1m27.631s, less than a tenth ahead of Verstappen.

Verstappen, Russell, Leclerc, Sainz, Hamilton, Hulkenberg, Ocon, Bottas, Stroll and Piastri.

A 1m27.764s for the Red Bull driver on the mediums - a tenth ahead of Sainz.

He goes fastest now with a 1m27.925s. Ferrari aren't expected to fare too well here given the high-speed nature and the bouncing they've struggled with.

Hamilton goes 0.003s ahead of Russell at the top of the pile.

A strong lap from Bearman albeit on the softs puts him fifth overall. 

Russell improves at the top to a 1m28.046s.

A 1m28.156s for Russell puts him 0.2s clear of Verstappen at the top of the timesheets. Hamilton is 0.3s off now in third.

Tsunoda's car has been cleared and FP1 is back underway. 

Tsunoda has dropped it into the gravel trap so the session has been stopped.

A 1m29.035s for Hamilton puts him 0.8s clear of Tsunoda. Verstappen is third overall currently.

Verstappen heads the timesheets by 1.2s ahead of Bottas.

"Brake pedal is very long. Think there's an issue. Now there's BBW fail."

Russell, Hamilton and Bearman take to the track as first practice kicks off at Silverstone.

A number of changes in FP1 with teams opting to run young drivers.
