100 army soldiers drafted in to F1 British GP to stop possible protestors
According to the Daily Mail, 100 soldiers will be present at Silverstone on race day.
The soldiers will be scattered around various sections of the track, although some will be working at stalls.
The action comes after last year’s race was impacted by ‘Just Stop Oil’ campaigners, who entered the track on the opening lap of the British GP.
Fortunately, the race was red-flagged due to a crash just before they took to the track, meaning they could be dealt with quickly.
Organisers are already taking strict measures such as facial recognition, while there’s also increased bag searches.
Northampton Police will have a strong presence around the Silverstone fencing.
Silverstone were left with no choice after last year’s events, but also other sporting events such as Wimbledon being targeted by protestors.
