Ferrari fire up new F1 car for the first time ahead of 2024 season
The SF-24 - Ferrari's 2024 F1 challenger - has been fired up for the first time.
Ferrari have fired up their new F1 challenger for the first time as preparations continue for the upcoming 2024 season.
The SF-24 was successfully fired up for the first time at Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters, with the moment captured and shared on social media.
Ferrari will show off their latest F1 car on February 13, a week before pre-season testing gets underway in Bahrain.
The season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix takes place the following week, on March 2.
The SF-24 will once again be driven by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz and Ferrari will be hopeful their new challenger can help them cut the gap to reigning world champions Red Bull.
Ferrari finished third in the constructors’ championship last year, having been narrowly beaten to second by Mercedes, but the Italian outfit did manage to claim the only non-Red Bull victory of 2023.
Sainz’s impressive win in Singapore denied Red Bull a perfect season, meaning they had to settle with 21 wins from 22 races.
There is a huge buzz surrounding Ferrari at the moment, following the shock announcement that Lewis Hamilton is leaving Mercedes to join the Scuderia in 2025.
