Stewart: di Resta addition would be good for F1
Sir Jackie Stewart has said he can't see any reason why Paul di Resta shouldn't be given the chance to race in F1 next season - and he believes his fellow countryman would strengthen the grid even more.
di Resta, who won the DTM drivers' title this year and who also acted as Force India's test and reserve driver, is currently thought to be one of four drivers in with a chance of driving for the Silverstone-based outfit in 2011 - along with 2010 pairing Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi and Williams refugee Nico Hulkenberg.
Whether he will get the nod is still uncertain however, and Crash.net understands that FIF1 might not change its line-up at all in 2011 now [see separate story - click here].
Stewart though believes the 24-year-old has done enough to earn a place at the top level.
"I don't see any reason why Paul shouldn't be on the grid next year," Stewart confirmed to Scotsman.com. "He's impressed everyone with what he's achieved during his Friday test sessions with Force India this year, and he's fast.
"But he's also very clever, astute and -- from what I've heard -- very good with his technical feedback.
"I definitely think he'd help strengthen the grid even more," concluded the three-time F1 world champion.
