Lotus in fresh Angry Birds tie-up
The Lotus team has confirmed a tie-up with the iconic Star Wars brand and with Angry Birds for the inaugural F1 race at the Circuit of the Americas next weekend.
The team will promote the new game 'Angry Bird Star Wars' on the cars of Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean during the Austin race weekend.
A special competition will run on the Angry Birds facebook page in which a fan can win the chance to enjoy a test ride in the Lotus F1 simulator.
It marks the second race in which Lotus and Angry Birds have teamed up on the back of a similar deal to promote the original game in Monaco earlier this season.
"As a team, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of our approach to entertainment and promoting our aim to be a little different," Lotus F1 CEO Patrick Louis said. "By promoting the new Angry Birds Star Wars game at the upcoming United States Grand Prix, we have the potential to connect fans between Lotus F1 Team, Rovio and Lucasfilm.
"After our victory at the recent Abu Dhabi Grand Prix we certainly think that the Force is with us."
Harri Koponen, COO of Angry Birds creators Rovio, was also delighted with the deal.
"We're extremely happy to once again link up with Lotus F1 Team in our recent agreement with Lucasfilm," he said. "'Angry Birds Star Wars' is the latest in our exploration to further entertainment, and what better way to showcase and publicise our new game than at the inaugural United States Grand Prix. We're very excited to be back on the car following our success in Monaco, and are looking forward to continuing our relationship with Lotus F1 Team to a galaxy far, far away..."
