Frijns to get Bahrain GP practice outing
Robin Frijns will turn his first wheel on an F1 weekend at Bahrain by driving the Caterham CT05 during FP1.
Caterham F1 has confirmed Robin Frijns will get an outing in its car during first free practice for this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix.
Having missed out on the chance to get any free practice running during his short time as test and reserve driver at Sauber in 2013, the Dutchman will now get his first opportunity to partake in an F1 race weekend at Bahrain.
The 2012 Formula Renault 3.5 Champion will drive the team's Renault-engined CT05 during FP1, though it hasn't been confirmed whether he will take the place of regular drivers Kamui Kobayashi or rookie Marcus Ericsson.
Delighted to announce @RFrijns will be in the car on Friday for FP1 and driving in the post-race test... & Robin has some very cool news....-- Caterham F1 Team (@CaterhamF1) April 1, 2014
Frijns has previously driven the car during pre-season testing, also at the Sakhir circuit.
