Pastor Maldonado has been reprimanded for not replacing his steering wheel after stopping on track.

Having had to stop at Turn 3 during the first part of qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, Maldonado took his steering wheel off to get out of the car but did not replace it afterwards. As a result, marshals were unable to quickly remove the car.

The stewards investigated the offence after the end of qualifying and decided that a more severe punishment would not be suitable due to where Maldonado had pulled off the track.

"The Stewards noted that the car was not left in a dangerous position on the track and therefore a reprimand was appropriate," the decision read.

The reprimand is Maldonado's first of the season, though he also has four penalty points for previous incidents this year.
