Fifth place Hulkenberg 'surfing' on confidence
Nico Hulkenberg admits he is 'surfing on a good wave' at the moment as he turned in one of the best qualifying performances of his career with a surprise fifth place for the Austrian Grand Prix.
In the final race for the current generation VJM08 before it is phased out for the upcoming B-spec car, Hulkenberg is well placed to give it one last hurrah from the third row after squeezing between the Williams' in Q3.
Though Hulkenberg admits it will be difficult to hold that position come race day, he is confident of getting more points on the board.
"I am very happy! I think we have had a good chance of a top ten result. Since Friday, the signs were quite positive, but fifth is a surprise to me and the team, albeit a nice one we are happy to take. Tomorrow will be a tough race with the Williams behind and a lot of quick cars, but we have built a good foundation for the race tomorrow."
In the week of his superb Le Mans 24 Hours win, Hulkenberg admits he is currently enjoying the 'wave' of good form at the moment.
"I am surfing a good wave and I need to surf it tomorrow. I am just feeling confident, happy and good in the car."
