Ferrari To Bridgestone Rumour Quashed

A story linking Ferrari to a mid-season switch to Bridgestone tyres has
been denied by the team.


Team manager Jean Todt has highlighted Bridgestone as a key factor in
McLaren's current domination of F1, but insisted that Ferrari would honour
its contract with Goodyear. (Goodyear is doing a good job,) said Todt, (We
had some good times together. Things are more difficult now, but the good
times will come back).

Goodyear, meanwhile, introduced a new compound and construction of tyre for
the Brazilian GP, which lasted longer than its predecessor. The new design,
although not providing the team with any extra speed, was praised by those
who used it.


A new, wider front tyre is scheduled to appear in Argentina next weekend.
Tests have shown this to be up to six-tenths of a second quicker than the
original tyre introduced in Australia, although the necessary suspension
re-designs may not allow teams to close the gap on McLaren immediately.
