Jaguar Rumours Denied

The chances of the Jaguar name appearing in Formula One are exceedingly slim, if Ford motorsport boss Martin Whitaker is to be believed.


Whitaker, the European head of the Blue Oval's motorsport affairs, has claimed that stories concerning Jaguar's impending entry are nothing more than "someone's imagination running away with them", with the company's focus remaining on its current links with Stewart.

(We have two years left of our contract with Stewart, and we are dedicated to win with the team,) said Whitaker, (Jaguar stirs up emotions with motor racing fans, and people think of it very fondly, but there is absolutely no intention to rename Ford's racing programme.)


It is thought that Ford's proposed buy-out of Benetton in order to promote the Jaguar name caused Dave Richard's departure from the Enstone team, and rumours have resurfaced this week that a similar situation may arise with the Stewart outfit.
