Zakspeed Closes In On Arrows

The sale of the Arrows team could go ahead as soon as next week, according to paddock rumour.


German company Zakspeed is thought to be waiting on a government grant to cover a third of the reported ?30million price tag for the Leafield outfit, before confirming the takeover of F1's least successful team.

Even if it receives the money, Zakspeed could face other problems which threaten to delay the purchase. Jackie Oliver, former GP driver and founding member of the Arrows team, is still thought to own as much as 49 per cent of the business, and is believed to be unwilling to sanction the sale at the agreed price.


Bernie Ecclestone, who is also thought to own a share of Arrows, has told Autosport magazine that he is sure the sale would go through, however.
