Monza Test - Day Three: 15 July 1999.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen became the third different driver in as many days to top the times at the Monza test, edging out world championship leader Mika Hakkinen on the way.

Frentzen clocked a time of 1min 24.41secs to lead both McLarens and day one pacesetter Ralf Schumacher, running the sole Jordan in the absence of team-mate Damon Hill. Hakkinen was just 2/10ths behind the German, with McLaren partner David Coulthard right on his tail.

Behind Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve put in an encouraging day's work for BAR, with team-mate Ricardo Zonta one tenth and two places further back. Giancarlo Fisichella split the two distinctively liveried cars, confirming that his day one accident has had little effect.

Surprisingly, Eddie Irvine languished down the order, as Ferrari split its attentions between the Irishman and new team-mate Mika Salo's debut test at the Fiorano circuit.
