Schumacher May Miss Rest Of Year.

Michael Schumacher may opt to sit out the rest of the 1999 season in order to let his injuries heal fully.

According to his manager, Willi Weber, Schumacher will be out of racing for at least three months, effectively ending his championship challenge. With no hope of ending Ferrari's title drought, the German may decide not to return this year, and put all his efforts into recovering fully for 2000.

"The most important thing is that he gets completely healthy and that his leg injuries heal right," Weber said, "After that we will start to think about a comeback. A pause of three months is realistic - it will take that long for a full recovery."

Mika Salo will stand-in for Schumacher at the A1-Ring next weekend, and will retain the Ferrari seat until the German is well enough to contemplate a return.
