Jaguar Gets Green Light.

Stewart Grand Prix will officially be renamed Jaguar next season, after the Formula One Commission agreed to the change.


Although repeatedly denied by both parties, the change of identity has been rumoured ever since Ford took control of Stewart back in June. The 'new' team is expected to break cover at next week's Frankfurt Motor Show, where it will display a Stewart chassis in full Jaguar livery.

The operation also hopes to confirm its 2000 season driving strength, with Eddie Irvine hotly tipped to join Johnny Herbert in an all-British attack. The Irishman has lost his seat at Ferrari to Brazilian Rubens Barrichello, who has driven for Stewart since the team's debut in 1997, and has few other options if he is to remain in grands prix.
