Having missed out on securing his services for its debut season, the new Jaguar Racing outfit is looking to sign up Heinz-Harald Frentzen for 2001.
The team, which was officially launched yesterday [Tuesday], has earmarked Frentzen for a seat alongside lead driver Eddie Irvine for next season, but was thwarted in its ambitions when current employer Eddie Jordan re-signed the German for a second term. Jaguar will now go into 2000 with Irvine and Johnny Herbert behind the wheel, but is expected to pursue Frentzen to replace the English driver when his contract expires at the end of next year.
Frentzen won his second grand prix of the season - and the third of his career - at Monza on Sunday, and has returned as a hot property this season.
