After two disappointing races in Belgium and Italy, Ferrari is determined to introduce a series of improvements to the ailing F399, and both drivers completed in excess of 60 laps apiece at the Italian circuit yesterday. Irvine, who still holds a share of the world championship lead despite only finishing sixth at Mona on Sunday, recorded a best time of 1min 28.241secs in the course of 70 laps, with Salo three-tenths adrift, as the team tries new aerodynamic and brake modifications.
