Panis' Race Options Recede.
Olivier Panis is staring F1 redundancy in the face, as his chances of landing a drive for 2000 ebb away.
The Frenchman, a past winner of the Monaco Grand Prix, has been forced out of his seat at Prost by rising star Nick Heidfeld, and has only Arrows and Minardi left to choose from for next year. A chance to join British American Racing disappeared when the team re-signed Ricardo Zonta for a second season.

Faced with the option of racing for one of F1's two perennial backmarkers, Panis has intimated that he may switch to the US-based Champcar series, where he claims to have 'significant contacts', but insists that staying in grands prix is his goal. He has also not ruled out a testing role, but is unlikely to take such a step after a long racing career.
