Prost Honoured.

Alain Prost joined the list of Formula One luminaries to receive awards during the short close season, when he was honoured at the World Sport Awards last week.


The French four-time world champion was rewarded for his motorsport achievements - which include 51 race wins in addition to his championship successes - and proclaimed as one of the Sportsmen of the Century. In receiving his award, however, Prost chose the moment to pay tribute to friend and rival Ayrton Senna who, he felt, would have been honoured in the same way.

"Motorsport is very dangerous," he reminded the assembled guests, "and over the last few years we have lost many of our friends. Above them all, the last one, at Imola in 1994 - Ayrton Senna. He would have deserved to have been here tonight."
