The Japanese company has been testing a revised tread pattern both on computers and in simulation runs, and believes that it has come up with a more efficient method of dispersing surface water from under the tyres. A new pattern of grooves has been designed to remove greater quantities of water from under each wheel, despite being smaller in size than their predecessors, and Bridgestone expects that the development will improve both traction and control in wet weather.


The company will begin track testing immediately after the Christmas break, in an attempt to have the tyres ready for Melbourne in March.
