Long-time company servant Rick Gorne has quit his post at Reynard to concentrate on a management role with British American Racing.

Gorne, for 18 years Adrian Reynard's right-hand man at the Bicester company, was appointed commercial director at the grand prix team in a reshuffle last season, and has now decided that it will be too difficult to combine the two roles.

"It was a difficult decision for me to make," Gorne admitted, "particularly as I've worked at Reynard for so long, and it has been a major part of my career. However, I found it increasingly difficult to give the company the attention it deserved, so I felt it best to move aside and let the capable management team that is now in place take the company forwards."

Gorne was influential in Reynard's successful entry to both the F3000 and Champcar series - where it won its debut race - and helped the company ease in grands prix with BAR and parent company British American Tobacco.

"Rick and I are great friends, and have worked together for many years, building up Reynard to be the successful company that it is today," said its chairman and CEO, "While I am sad that Rick has decided to move on after such a long time with the company, I am pleased we will continue to be working together at BAR, and I know that he will put all his energies into his role there.

"He has given us a great inspiration and philosophy that we must build upon."
