Ecclestone, who faces having to share power in his Formula One Administration company with a German media company, is believed to have boosted his own personal contribution to the amount following the sell-off of a stake in FOA last month.

Behind the diminutive ringmaster, Ron Dennis heads a list of leading team bosses, again having boosted his wealth with a partial sell-off of his greatest asset. The forty per cent stake in the McLaren Group bought by DaimlerChrysler is thought to have played a big part in Dennis leap from a modest ?60million to his current standing at ?150million.
Behind the 198th-ranked McLaren team chief come Tom Walkinshaw (?140million), Sir Frank Williams (?97million), Jackie Stewart (?70million) and Eddie Jordan (?65million).
