Haug out?
Speculation in the German press suggests that Norbert Haugs days at Mercedes are numbered - with former Ferrari favourite Niki Lauda set to replace him.
According to Die Welt yesterday [Wednesday], Haug is likely to be relieved of his duties as head of motorsport at the German giant and, with it, his involvement with the McLaren team. Three-time world champion Lauda is the man the media tips to replace him, and can bring inside knowledge of the Ferrari operation, which he represented in an official capacity until recently.

Mercedes parent company DaimlerChrysler were keen to play down the stories, however, claiming that it had no intention of breaking up the hitherto successful Haug relationship with McLaren.
These are only rumours, it said in a statement, We have one man responsible for motorsport, and that is Norbert Haug.
We have no other considerations within the company in this direction. It may be a time for such speculation, but there is absolutely no truth in it. Norbert Haug has ignored such rumour in the past, and will do so in the future.
