Blue flag blues for Schuey.

Michael Schumacher has complained that his pursuit of the McLarens at Silverstone was compromised by backmarkers not obeying the blue flags.

The German complained that several tail-enders, and Pedro Diniz in particular - did not move over for him, despite being shown the blue flag instructing them to do so. Schumacher had had to charge from a lowly eighth place after a bad start dropped him behind Jacques Villeneuve's defensively driven BAR, and was slowly gaining on the leaders when he hit trouble.

''There were some guys who just didn't obey the blue flags,'' he reported, ''and one of them - Pedro Diniz - just did not move at all. This is not the first time that this has happened to me. It should not happen, and I am very angry about it.''

In his defence, however, Diniz claimed to have lost a mirror in the early laps, and could not see the German bearing down on him.
