Jordan commits to Bridgestone.

The Jordan team is on the verge of signing an extended deal with tyre supplier Bridgestone, despite having been courted by returning rival Michelin.

The pair are expected to ink a new contract at any time, after Jordan spent time considering its options for 2001. Williams, Toyota and Jaguar have already agreed to switch to the French rubber but Jordan, like Ferrari and McLaren were expected to delay its own move until the Michelins prove competitive.

''A strong relationship with a tyre manufacturer is imperative for any bid for the world championship,'' explained team boss Eddie Jordan, ''We have developed an enormous respect for the Bridgestone engineers, and look forward to working even more closely with them in the exciting challenge ahead.''
