FIA ban extra 'front wings'.

The FIA - F1's governing body - has banned the new aerodynamic devices seen on the Arrows-Asiatech's and Jordan-Honda's today in opening practice at the Monaco GP.

The new additional front wings (both teams had different variations) were positioned above the normal one on the nose section of the car. The FIA has banned them on safety grounds under article 2.3 after deeming them dangerous. The stewards have backed the decision saying any car using them will be disqualified.

The rule states: "Rule 2.3: Dangerous construction, the stewards of the meeting may exclude a vehicle whose construction is deemed to be dangerous."

In the press conference after practice before the ruling was made Jos Verstappen said: "It seems to make some difference (the new wing). You can still see very well and it doesn't disturb the view so it's fine." He added: "I don't care (what it looks like) as long as it's quicker, it's fine. It feels like it has more downforce on the front to me."
