McLaren's Mika Hakkinen has admitted that the 2001 season is turning into a nightmare and that all hopes for the championship are long gone.
The Finn told British newspaper The Sun: "If I think about my hopes for the championship, then it looks like a disaster. I cannot find the words to say how I feel after having one problem after another this season. I just cannot describe my feelings and how disappointed I am."

Hakkinen has now notched up five DNF's from seven races so far this year and the Finn has scored just four points compared to the 52 scored by championship leader Michael Schumacher and the 40 scored by teammate David Coulthard.
Hakkinen's nightmare:
1. Australian GP - Melbourne: DNF - front suspension failure.
2. Malaysian GP - Sepang: Sixth.
3. Brazilian GP - Interlagos: DNF - stalled on the grid.
4. San Marino GP - Imola: Fourth.
5. Spanish GP - Barcelona: DNF - clutch failure on last lap while leading.
6. Austrian GP - A1 Ring: DNF - stalled on grid.
7. Monaco GP - Monte Carlo: DNF - handling problems.
