McLaren's gift for Ramirez.

Veteran McLaren staffer Jo Ramirez (pictured with Michael Schumacher at the Brazilian GP 1998) celebrated his 60th birthday this coming Monday with a fine present at the Hungarian Grand Prix from drivers Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard.

Ramirez, who came over to Europe from Mexico with the Rodriguez brothers in the early sixties and has stayed ever since, has worked with a number of teams including Ferrari, but has been with McLaren most recently.

He's retiring after the United States Grand Prix this year, but has been given a nice present to retire with. Initially he was presented with a leather jacket with Harley Davidson printed on the back, but suddenly there came the deep note of a bike itself, and up rolled one of the older models, courtesy of the drivers. It was a touching gift to a man who is a true gentleman of the sport, and who, in years gone by, somehow managed to remain friends with both Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.
