Button loses yet another BMW drive.

Jenson Button's BMW, which he has had for less than two months, has been written off by one of his best friends.

Jenson had asked friend Brad Poole, 21, to take the ?40,000 BMW M3 Coupe for a test drive. Jenson had felt a vibration in the car on his way to visit Brad, in his home town of Frome, Somerset, and asked if Brad could take the car to his father's garage if he felt there was a problem.

Brad lost control of the car when he hit a bend on the B3092 near Maiden Bradley, Wilts. The yellow M3 left the road and ended up on its side, causing the driver chest injuries and a broken leg.

As reported by The Sun newspaper, a police spokesman said: "It would appear the driver lost control on a bad blind bend."

Brad's father Alan said: "Brad was bringing the car to my garage to check -- he wasn't just taking it out for a spin. He's in plaster, but hopefully he'll be home in a couple of days."

As soon as Jenson heard about the incident he hurried to Bath's Royal United Hospital to see his friend.

"I might have lost a car, but a car is not important," Jenson told The Sun. "My mate's health is what matters and I'm just relieved he's going to be OK. It was a bit of a shocker when I found out he'd crashed it.

"I don't blame him. I've been in a car with Brad loads of times and he's a good driver."

Jenson is still under contract with Williams-BMW, despite driving for Benetton, so had been given the BMW as a courtesy car. BMW are reported to have said: "If Jenson felt something needed checking he should have come to a BMW dealer.
