Panasonic Toyota Racing test driver Ryan Briscoe completed his third and final day of running at the Autodromo Fernandes Pires Da Silva in Estoril last night, having racked up a mammoth 274 laps of the physically-demanding Portuguese circuit.
The 20-year old was standing in for regular race pilots Allan McNish and Mika Salo, who enjoyed a well-earned break between the Spanish and Austrian GPs. and received a rare chance to drive the TF102 in wet conditions as inclement weather swept across the Iberian peninsula. In all, the Australian driver completed 71 laps on the day, with a best time of 1min 21.700secs, not far shy of 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve, who was testing at the same venue for BAR.
"It was good to get some running in wet conditions," Briscoe revealed, "We concentrated our efforts today on mechanical and aerodynamic set up in the wet, and we also did some work on launch and traction control. Generally, the three-day test has been positive. I have a good feeling for the TF102's set-up and, personally, am feeling very comfortable in the car."
The F1 championship moves on to Austria's A1-Ring next weekend.
