Fisi on the mend.

Giancarlo Fisichella was not present to watch Jordan's disappointing French Grand Prix performance, having left the Magny-Cours circuit after his own enforced exit from the event on Saturday.

The Italian was the victim of a heavy shunt in morning free practice, and had to pay a visit to Nevers Hospital for a brain scan before being allowed to return to the Jordan garage. Once there, however, he was advised by F1 doctor Sid Watkins not to take any further part in the weekend, lest he make his tender condition any worse.

Instead of hanging around the team, Fisichella left for his Monaco home, from where he sent his fans the good news on his recovery.

"I watched the race on television at home, and it was a shame to see Takuma retire," he commented, "I am fine today after a good night's sleep. My headache has gone and I just have a little bit of a sore neck. I want to say thank you to Sid Watkins, the circuit medical team and air ambulance crew as they did a great job very quickly. I
would also like to thank the doctors at the hospital in Nevers, where I had full scans and, of course, the team doctor and physiotherapist from our sponsor Vielife."

The Italian should be back in action at next weekend's German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.
