Massa gets help in HANS.
Felipe Massa took over behind the wheel of the sole Sauber-Petronas C21 at Monza, continuing the German's test programme as well as carrying out the first major assessment of the soon to be compulsory HANS device in F1.
On its third day of testing, Sauber continued with aerodynamic and brake programmes in readiness for next week's Italian Grand Prix, with Massa setting a best time of 1min 25.474secs and covered 80 laps. In the course of this running, the young Brazilian covered a race distance wearing the Head And Neck Safety [HANS] collar.

"I completed a full race distance, and was very happy with the way we have adjusted it now to suit me and felt completely comfortable with it," Massa said of the device, "The team now plans to race it for both of us this week-end.
"This is an important test for Team Sauber Petronas and I am pleased with the car's reliability today. I also really like driving at Monza. It's a very fast track and today I regularly reached speeds of 350kph."
"This morning, we carried on where Nick left us yesterday, but lap times were less important to us as we tried a number of different aerodynamic configurations and did some further work to optimise our traction control," commented head of engineering Jacky Eeckelaert, "This afternoon, Felipe covered a race distance, in which the car was completely reliable, as well as carrying out a tire test program for Bridgestone."
