Jordan's Ford deal confirmed.

Speculation that Eddie Jordan may have been a bit premature in announcing his engine deal with Ford and Cosworth can finally be laid to rest, following today's confirmation from the Blue Oval.

As part of its statement giving details of the three-month review of its involvement in F1, the Ford Motor Company finally gave official notice that it will be supplying the Silverstone-based team, as well as factory entry Jaguar, from 2003. Jordan's deal, however, will be on a customer basis, rather than the works effort its Irish boss had hoped for.

"Jordan Grand Prix has signed a three-year agreement with Cosworth Racing and Ford to use a development of the current Cosworth three-litre V10 engine," read the statement, "Within the framework of this agreement, Jordan has developed a unique and innovative sponsor arrangement that enables Jordan to fund the Cosworth Racing contract that includes a dedicated team of Cosworth engineers to develop the engine further.

""There is tremendous heritage and value on and off the race track for the Ford Cosworth association," FMC group vice-president Richard Parry-Jones said, "With the return of Ford Cosworth RS road cars to Ford of Europe's product line-up, now is an excellent time to remind people of the advantages of being powered by Ford Cosworth engines. Therefore, we have decided to add the Ford 'Blue Oval' badge to our Cosworth customer engines and the first team to benefit from this would be Jordan Grand Prix, who will use Ford Cosworth RS Engines from next season."
