Friday testing is go!

Formula One's governing body, the FIA today [Monday] confirmed that Friday testing, prior to a Grand Prix will go ahead in 2003.

The FIA released a brief statement noting that:

"following the receipt of a sufficient number of team applications [three was the minimum], a two-hour test session will be run on the Friday of each event in the 2003 FIA Formula One World Championship.

"Teams taking advantage of the new two hour session will limit their other testing to ten days during the Formula One season (March - October 2003)."

The FIA did not reveal which teams had opted to take advantage of the new rule, however a number of outfits were said to be considering it, including Minardi, Jordan, Jaguar and Renault.
