B.A.R Honda continued running with the new 005, and this time Anthony Davidson was putting it through it's paces, taking over from fellow Brit and former Renault driver Jenson Button. Davidson, who tested for B.A.R last year, was drafted in so he could compare it to the 2002 model, the 004.
Renault's Fernando Alonso was ninth, and team-mate's Allan McNish and Jarno Trulli were eleventh and twelfth. Tenth sandwiched between the Renault's was the sole Jaguar at the track, Antonio Pizzonia setting a best time of 1m 18.817s.
