DC: I would miss Imola.

West McLaren-Mercedes driver David Coulthard has admitted that he will miss the San Marino Grand Prix, should it be struck of the 2004 calendar.

The Scot told BBC Sport Online: "I would miss this race.

"It's got character and the track is certainly exciting for the drivers to battle on. It makes good viewing for the television because it is up hill and down and it would be a shame if it went."

The event is said to be in danger because although it is called the "San Marino GP", the circuit is actually based in Italy and the justification for one country having two events [Italy also hosts the Italian GP at Monza], is more and more difficult to justify with the FIA pushing for a more representative 'World' championship.

This year the attendance was also disappointing - some 80,000 spectators attended last weekend's show compared to more than double that in 2000 - and the facilities are considered rather dated in comparison to the more modern amenities offered at places such as Sepang.
